Rolex Milgauss

Milgauss is an interesting watch in the Rolex collection. The model, first released in the 1950s for scientists and engineers, gets its name from the words "mille" and "Gauss" (the latter being the unit of magnetic field), which literally translates to 1000 Gauss.

How to store your watch correctly

There are several important rules for the owner of a mechanical watch.

  1. The clock does not like to "stand".They "sour" and putting them on the move is an extra cost, and there is no need to open the watch once again - even in expensive Russian services for servicing Swiss watches, the hands and dial will be scratched, or they will forget to silicone the gasket. Therefore, if you have several self-winding watches, then it is better to store them in special boxes, in which the watches constantly rotate, which provides them with a permanent winding, or to wind them regularly by hand. This is especially true for watches with a perpetual calendar - after stopping it for a long time and tediously you have to set it up again.
  2. Watches do not like low and high temperatures. At low temperatures, grease in watches thickens, at high temperatures it dries up. In bright sun exposure to ultraviolet radiation can burn out the dial. Although very high quality materials are used in expensive Swiss watches, it is best not to subject the watch to such tests.
  3. Do not drop a mechanical watch! It is believed that mechanics, even Swiss ones, are designed to be dropped from a height of 15-20 cm onto a wooden surface.
  4. Before "bathing" a watchwith a screw-down crown, make sure that it is screwed in all the way. Do not press buttons on watches (eg chronographs) in water, unless you have a special diving model. Even if your watch has a water resistance of 100m, but it is on a leather strap, you should not soak the strap especially in seawater. A leather strap is afraid of water, even if it is made of shark or stingray skin ... You can buy a separate rubber strap or a bracelet (the latter is expensive), which can be rearranged instead of leather and safely go to the seas. After "bathing" in seawater, the watch should be rinsed in fresh water.
  5. Do not move the handsof the calendar clock from approximately 21:00 to 03:00 am. At this time, the engagement of the hour wheels occurs to change the date, day of the week, etc. The mechanism of a Swiss watch is very reliable, but inept action can seriously damage it.
  6. Do not leave the watch near magnets, powerful speakers, or electrical appliances. And most importantly, do not leave expensive Swiss watches unattended!
