Rolex Milgauss

Milgauss is an interesting watch in the Rolex collection. The model, first released in the 1950s for scientists and engineers, gets its name from the words "mille" and "Gauss" (the latter being the unit of magnetic field), which literally translates to 1000 Gauss.

Rolex Datejust

Ask any watchmaker about a Rolex and chances are you'll hear stories of rare, vintage, million-dollar Daytonas, the flamboyant Yacht-Master, or the high-tech two-tone Cerachrome bezels on the new GMT. Few collectors will immediately start talking about Datejust.

Crown Twinlock vs Triplock

One of the foundations of the historical popularity of Rolex watches is their water resistance. As you may already know, in 1926, Rolex introduced the world's first waterproof watch, which the company called the Oyster.

Rolex Submariner

he Rolex Submariner has a history spanning more than half a century (since 1953) and retains many of the original styling cues of the earliest models. For most of its history, the Submariner had a rotating bezel with minute indices engraved on an aluminum plate.

A few years ago, Rolex switched to a signature ceramic bezel called Cerachrom, which boasts engraved numerals and one glow-in-the-dark bezel at 12 o'clock, and is more durable and scratch-resistant than aluminum. This ceramic is available in a variety of colors - even the intriguing shade of emerald green that adorns the ceramic Rolex Submariner Hulk, named after a popular comic book character. In short, the Cerachrom Submariner bezel is not prone to corrosion, fading or scratching, which is in line with what wearers have come to expect from their Rolex watches.

Both the classic Rolex Submariner with date and the Submariner No-Date (no date) have similar high-precision movements, waterproof (up to 300 meters) Oyster cases in 904L stainless steel, and micro-adjustable bracelets in 904L stainless steel. The Submariner crown is equipped with the patented Triplock system, which, as the name suggests, has a triple lock against water ingress. The Submariner glass is made from scratch-resistant synthetic sapphire.

The No Date (showcased at Baselworld 2012) differs from the traditional Rolex design in that it does not use the date window and the traditional Cyclops magnifier, and has other subtle mechanical nuances associated with the absence of a calendar disc. Many Rolex connoisseurs prefer this particular model, despite the lack of a date. Submariner without a date looks more brutal, their dial has nothing superfluous - this is a true standard of luxury sports watches.

In September 2020, Rolex presented an updated Submariner. The main change concerned the size. It has increased from 40 to 41 mm. In addition, the bracelet has become 1 mm wider, respectively, the distance between the ears has increased by 1 mm. The movement is also new, it has a power reserve increased to 70 hours. The previous Submariner had a power reserve of 40 hours.

Unfortunately, the green dial is discontinued in 2020. The Submariner is now available with either a black or blue dial. Of the case and bracelet materials, the collection includes steel, yellow or white gold and bicolor (a combination of steel and yellow gold). All models have a Cerachrom ceramic bezel.
